Bagh-e-Jinnah (formerly Lawrence Garden) is an iconic public park located in the heart of Lahore, Pakistan. The garden is named after Sir John Lawrence, the Viceroy and Governor-General of India from 1864 to 1869. It was established in 1860 and is spread over a sprawling area of 67 acres. It has a rich colonial-era architecture with English style pavilions, fountains, French parterres, and pathways encircling monuments made of red sandstone and marble. A grand white marble mausoleum dedicated to brave soldiers who died during World War I is also found in the premises.
The garden houses over 600 different kinds of trees and plants which are divided into distinct sections including seasonal flowers, shrubs, bamboos, creepers, fruit trees, shade trees and ornamental species. There are two large artificial lakes within the premises which inhabit different varieties of fish like Murrels.
Apart from being a natural paradise for locals to relax and unwind in nature's lap, Bagh-e-Jinnah also has recreational facilities like a cricket pitch for cricket lovers, a gymnasium for fitness enthusiasts as well as separate cycling tracks for cyclists. There are also art galleries showcasing artwork by local artists as well as historic artifacts related to the city's past grandeur. All these attractions make Bagh-e-Jinnah one of the top tourist sites in Lahore and a must visit destination while visiting this vibrant city.
